Description
On Tuesday, 25 October, the European Commission will organise a special online workshop – ‘Translation as a career’ - in conjunction with University College Dublin (UCD). This workshop will take place through Irish and will focus on fifth year students in secondary schools.
Translators from the European Commission will participate in the event to explain their work and to speak about the skills necessary to become a translator in the EU institutions. Lecturers from UCD will provide an outline of the relevant third level courses. The students will then have an opportunity to try translation for themselves (from English to Irish) by working on some simple texts with the translators.
The event programme can be viewed at this link.
Places will be limited to six students per school and to 48 students in total. Schools are therefore encouraged to register as soon as possible at DGT-Dublinec [dot] europa [dot] eu (DGT-Dublin[at]ec[dot]europa[dot]eu), indicating the number of places they would like to book.
This workshop is unfortunately full and we have a waiting list. If you have any question or if you would like to ensure that you receive an email the next time a similar event is organised, please contact DGT-Dublinec [dot] europa [dot] eu (DGT-Dublin[at]ec[dot]europa[dot]eu)
