A six-month, largely free cultural programme celebrates the EU-backed transformation of Temple Bar – launched as Ireland assumes the Presidency of the Council of the European Union.

The European Commission Representation in Ireland participated in the Festival of Gardens and Nature and explored themes like climate change, biodiversity and wildlife, nature restoration, food literacy and security, and the realities and aspirations of the EU’s Common Agricultural Policy.

Donna Gartland, the head of Dublin’s Energy Agency Codema, has won the European Sustainable Energy Award 2026 in the Women in Energy category, recognising her role in driving Ireland’s transition to low-carbon heat, while promoting gender equality in the workplace.

The EU's Shared Roots, Common Shade garden was awarded a gold medal in the show garden category at the Bord Bia Bloom Festival in Dublin's Phoenix Park on 28 May. The garden also won the overall concept award.
