The Dialogue will gather 30 young participants from across the EU. They will discuss with the Commissioner their engagement in democratic processes, including during elections. The focus will be on how to boost the electoral turnout among young voters, improve youth representation in politics, strengthen media literacy and empower young people by increasing their interest in politics and their participation in democratic processes.
Youth dialogues are part of the European Commission's commitment to strengthen the voice of young people in EU policy-making, as set out in President Ursula von der Leyen's Political Guidelines for 2024-2029. These dialogues are important to ensure that the voices of young people are heard and help shape the work of the European Commission.
The outcome of the Dialogue in Dublin will also feed into the future European Democracy Shield, which, as announced in the Political Guidelines for 2024-2029, will strengthen and promote EU democracy. Young people will play an important role in this.
