This week, communities across the country are marking National Tree Week with a full programme of activities including tree-planting ceremonies, forest walks and workshops.
This event is also part of the European Commission’s #3BillionTrees Pledge to plant at least 3 billion additional trees in the EU by 2030, and the EU’s new For Our Planet campaign which aims to to encourage citizens and civil society to take action for our planet, including by planting trees.
The European Commission Representation in Ireland organised the event in conjunction with Crann - Trees for Ireland | Working for Trees and Woodlands. A number of EU Member State embassies and staff from EU agency, Eurofound also participated in the event.
The date was chosen as it falls during National Tree Week (3-10 March).
The participation of the school is linked to a project called EasyTreesie Easy Treesie – Planting 1M trees with Ireland's 1M children.
