Thanks to Gaelic Games Europe and the European Commission Representation in Ireland, more than 200 children will take part in a Europe-wide celebration of sport, culture, and community.
In Dublin, a special event will feature Na Gaeil Nua - The New Gaels GAA: Ireland’s first explicitly international and migrant-inclusive GAA team, highlighting the power of inclusion through sport.
This event forms part of a pan-European celebration of Europe Day, with national sporting organisations across all 27 EU Member States taking part in a coordinated programme of shared European values – solidarity, inclusion, integration and respect for all.
With over 100 clubs now thriving across the EU, the GAA has a powerful story to tell about building communities at home and abroad. As part of the celebrations, 10 European clubs will take part in Go Games, with EU-branded jerseys and flags.
In Dublin, as part of the celebration Na Gaeil Nua will run a training session in Fairview Park from 10.30am to 1.30pm, bringing together approximately 40 participants from a wide range of nationalities.
Head of European Commission Representation in Ireland Peter Power is looking forward to welcoming to the event the Minister of State for European Affairs and Defence, Thomas Byrne T.D. and GAA legend Michael Darragh Macauley. Michael Darragh played Gaelic football at inter-county level for Dublin from 2010 until 2020, winning eight All-Ireland medals. His home club in Dublin is Ballyboden – St. Endas.
In Europe, 10 GAA clubs will participate in the Europe Day ‘Go Games’ across the EU Member States:
• Belgium - Brussels
• France - Lyon & Vannes
• Germany - Munich & Cologne
• Luxembourg
• Austria - Vienna
